The timing couldn’t be better
On April 22-26, 2024, a 5-day study trip hosted by Danish Industry (DI), DI Water, CLEAN and Rambøll will bring Danish companies, research institutes, and cities working with Climate Adaptation to New York City and Boston – two major global leaders in urban sustainability and resiliency.
Climate change is a present danger, and Boston and New York are not waiting to respond. Adapting New York City and Boston to climate change requires a citywide, multi-generational effort that marshals all available resources. Both cities are investing billions of dollars to implement hundreds of resiliency projects and sweeping policy changes with a multi-hazard and multi-layered approach.
Adaptation means preparing New York City and Boston communities, infrastructure, buildings, land, critical infrastructure, and natural systems for climate change impacts now and in the future. This requires close coordination across city agencies, partnership across all levels of government, and active engagement with international partners including Danish companies.
The trip is open to Danish companies, municipalities, and research institutions with an interest in initiating or expanding the collaboration with leading US cities, and companies who have an ambition in entering the US market.
What to expect?
The program offers an opportunity for Danish companies, cities, and research institutions to gain extensive knowledge by meeting the most knowledgeable market experts and potential collaborators and customers and building partnerships with key US stakeholders as well as Danish stakeholders.
Program elements
- Expert session covering themes such as governance of climate adaptation, legislation, and funding programs for innovation in the US.
- Workshop day for Danish and American knowledge institutions (with participation from everyone on the trip), discussing various challenges or research findings and innovation in climate adaptation
- Presentation of Danish climate adaptation projects to US stakeholders
- Promotion of Danish companies and consultants
- Visits to various projects and facilities to provide insight into American solutions and to meet American companies
- Internal networking activities with delegation participants
- External networking with American counterparts through match-making events and 1:1 sessions
We will primarily offer a joint program for all participants during the trip. However, to ensure that all participants can engage in activities that make the most sense for their work, there will be a few mornings or afternoons where there will be options for participating in different programs.
Price
The participation fee for the delegation is 16.800 kr. excl. VAT. The participation fee includes participation in the program, hotel from Monday to Friday in New York and Boston, and the delegation dinner. The participation fee does not cover flights. DI can assist participants with booking flight tickets.
The registration deadline is February 11, 2024. There are limited seats, and we advise participants not to book flight tickets before January 15. After this date, the organizing team will assist with this part.
This event is funded by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Sciences.
