Recycling discarded bed mattress

While posing a waste challenge, Mattresses also offers a valuable opportunity for CO2 emission reduction. This project aimed to unlock the potential of mattress recycling in Kenya, paving the way for sustainable solutions.

Key Activities

  • Conduct field-site investigations to identify optimal local infrastructure and technological setup for reusing and recycling discarded mattresses.
  • Develop a comprehensive business case for establishing a recycling plant in Kenya.
  • Collaborate with DTU and University of Nairobi to design a course focusing on recycling and entrepreneurship to drive the green transition. This course will foster intensive knowledge sharing and cooperation between the universities, offering a 3-week program open to BA students from diverse disciplines at DTU.
