Opportunity to influence and contribute to Scotland’s industry cluster decarbonisation

Since Scotland’s Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) focused Living Lab took place in January 2020, industry clusters across the UK have been busy developing their plans for industrial decarbonisation roadmaps to help achieve UK’s Net Zero targets.

The Scottish Living Lab Event acted as a catalyst to highlight the transnational opportunities CCUS can provide to decarbonise industry clusters and involve a wide range of players in not only reducing emissions but developing also sustainable manufacturing models.

Following the success of the event NECCUS is seeking companies involved in CCUS and industrial decarbonisation to support the delivery of the industrial decarbonisation roadmap.

NECCUS, the Scottish industry alliance for CCUS and industrial decarbonisation, is currently undertaking Phase 1 of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) Scotland Net Zero Roadmap (SNZR) project. This aims to develop the business case for the delivery of a detailed roadmap laying out the pathway for industrial decarbonisation, CCUS and net zero in Scotland. This is being developed in collaboration with a small group of industry and academic stakeholders with NECCUS acting as the lead delivery partner. The delivery of the Roadmap will be undertaken in Phase 2 over a period of 24 months from the end of 2020. The SNZR is now seeking industry partners to participate in and/or support the Phase 2 bid to Innovate UK.  If successful, this would unlock significant government funding to deliver this project and provide industry with the opportunity to define its own pathway to CCUS and industrial decarbonisation in Scotland. To find out more, please contact Mike Smith, CEO of NECCUS at mike.smith@neccus.co.uk
