São Paulo, Brazil – December 10, 2024 marked an evening of recognition and celebration of outstanding achievements and innovation in foreign trade. The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and Exame magazine held the Best of International Business 2024 Awards ceremony at the Bravos Theater in São Paulo. Among the nominees was the P.R.E.S.I. project.
Outstanding Achievements in Trade and Innovation
The event, attended by Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, and the President of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, brought together business leaders and foreign trade experts to reward initiatives that promote the country’s internationalization and attract investment. Vice President Geraldo Alckmin highlighted the good trade results for the year and the prospects for new trade agreements.

The P.R.E.S.I. Project at G20 Social
One of the notable projects also highlighted at the G20 Social was P.R.E.S.I. (Pathways to Resource Efficiency in Santa Cruz Industries). Which is an international collaboration between Danish stakeholders specializing in industrial symbiosis and Brazilian counterparts in Rio de Janeiro. The goal of P.R.E.S.I. is to conduct a technical screening to evaluate the potential to establish more resource-efficient industries and thus reduce the environmental footprint. The screening, which was carried out in May and June 2024, will serve as a roadmap for selecting companies for the industrial visit and conference in November 2024 in connection with Rio’s hosting of the G20 meeting.

The Future of Brazil’s International Trade
The continued success of Brazilian exports and international trade is a clear indicator of the country’s growing role on the world stage. Going forward, the P.R.E.S.I. project has secured funding for an additional year and looks forward to continuing to accelerate Brazilian-Danish collaboration on industrial symbiosis — both in connection with next year’s COP30, which will be held in Brazil, and beyond.
