DKK 800,000 awarded to projects focusing on water and environmental technology solutions

8 Danish companies have each been awarded DKK 100,000 by Denmark’s water and environment cluster, Clean, to be used for innovative knowledge bridge projects in collaboration with knowledge partners to develop and test new solutions.

On Monday, Clean’s grant committee, consisting of experts from Aalborg University, the Alexandra Institute and DHI, approved the next round of knowledge bridge projects, where DKK 800,000 was awarded. Out of 13 applications across Cleans five focus areas, eight projects were approved.

We are pleased to be able to boost innovation with these funds. There is a great desire for innovation among water and environmental companies and a need to collaborate with the knowledge environments to take the technologies further, says Michael Johansen, Development Manager for Clean.

The eight projects will work with robotic sorting of construction waste, algae plastic to replace fossil plastic, real-time measurement of PFAS, and testing of CCUS. What they have in common is that the knowledge bridge projects build bridges between Danish knowledge institutions and companies to boost the innovative and technological development in the Danish water and environmental ecosystem.

One of the companies that has received a grant is Undine, which will carry out tests for their solution with an electric propulsion system for sailboats with the help of the Danish Technological Institute:

I’m pleased about the funding, because we can now go out into the world oceans with our solution and make future sailing even greener,” says Anders Hovmøller, CEO, Undine.

With DKK 100,000 each, projects get the opportunity to transfer the knowledge of the knowledge partners to the companies and get their ideas, products, or test environmental solutions approved.

Clean looks forward to following and supporting the projects throughout the process and seeing their results at the end of 2024!

Approved projects

The eight approved projects and their partners are:

The Knowledge Bridge projects are co-financed by The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.
