Companies show great satisfaction with cluster efforts

Report from the Danish Board of Business Development, June 29, 2023.

Results of cluster survey: Outcomes of the “Innovationskraft” cluster program 2021-2024 – results of cluster survey 2022.

The analysis maps how well the clusters have succeeded in creating value for companies since the clusters were designated in 2021. In general, companies are satisfied with the clusters’ value proposition and activities.

Innovation and positions of strength

In 2021, Denmark’s 13 nationwide clusters were designated, and in 2022, the Danish Business Promotion Agency, together with the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, has examined the progress of facilitating and promoting collaboration in the ecosystems within Denmark’s strongest and most promising business and technology areas.

The analysis is based on two surveys among companies and knowledge institutions that have participated in cluster activities in 2021 and in the first half of 2022. The survey was distributed to 3126 unique companies and 1296 representatives from knowledge institutions. 24% of both companies and knowledge institutions have contributed with complete answers and 6% with partial answers.

The analysis shows that companies that have participated in the clusters’ activities are satisfied with the offerings and that the clusters’ activities are comprehensive and relevant to the companies’ needs. Furthermore, the clusters’ activities form the basis for networking between companies and knowledge institutions and other relevant organizations. For example, about half of the participating companies have gained greater insight into other industries and more knowledge about sustainability and green transition. For others, the clusters’ activities have contributed to the market introduction or implementation of new or significantly improved products, services or processes.

The study is part of the clusters’ overall evaluation framework for the Innovation Power Program for 2021-2024.
