Innovation Camp Nairobi opens the door for Danish SMEs seeking to establish international partnerships and gain concrete market insights in the fields of water, sanitation, and climate adaptation in Kenya and East Africa.
The program is affiliated with I4WASH 2026 (Innovate for WASH)—one of the region’s most important gathering places for stakeholders with solutions in water, sanitation, and climate. Here, companies, utility providers, government agencies, investors, and development partners come together to build partnerships and address water and climate challenges in East Africa.

Companies can apply for grants of up to 40,000 DKK for activities related to Innovation Camp Nairobi and I4WASH 2026. The funds may be used to cover payroll expenses related to:

Who can participate?
The program is intended for Danish SMEs that:
- Offer solutions within water, sanitation or climate adaptation
- Want to explore new export markets
- See opportunities for collaboration in East Africa
- Work with innovation and international growth
Companies with expertise in the following areas are particularly well-suited:
- Climate-resilient and circular WASH solutions
- Sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure
- Resource recovery and circular economy
- Business and financing models within WASH
- Public health and inclusive solutions
Conditions
- Danish SME with 1–249 employees
- Participation in both Innovation Camp Nairobi and I4WASH 2026 is mandatory
- Grant of up to DKK 40,000 per company
- All activities must be completed by 31 March 2027
- Participation fee: DKK 10,000

- Potential for innovation and international collaboration
- Alignment with Clean’s focus areas
- Strategic value for the company’s international development

The program is being carried out in collaboration with ICDK, the Danish Embassy in Kenya, the International Cleantech Network, the Quercus Group, and local partners.
*De Minimis Declaration: The activity is co-financed by the Danish Business Promotion Board, and the value is estimated at 46,000 DKK. A company in Denmark may receive state aid of up to 300,000 euros (approx. 2.2 million DKK) over three years. This amount will therefore be included in your state aid for 2025–2026–2027; consequently, you will be required to sign a De Minimis declaration if you are selected as one of the participating companies.
