The Advanced Water Cycle Management Course is an international programme designed to upgrade your skills in water management and provide you with a comprehensive understanding of water resources management, water distribution and wastewater treatment, including resource recovery.

Course content and learning outcomes

The course provides an introduction to three main topics:

1. Groundwater resources management

2. Water distribution

3. Wastewater treatment and resource recovery

What will you learn?

You will gain hands-on experience in applying established technical knowledge, know-how and the latest technologies throughout the entire water cycle, from water abstraction to the discharge of treated wastewater back into the environment.

You will also learn how to analyse the benefits, challenges and principles related to water management and understand how to minimise unnecessary water and energy consumption, as well as how wastewater treatment plants can become net energy producers.

You will experience how the private sector works in close collaboration with the public sector, regulatory authorities and ministries in Denmark, creating a unique and highly integrated water management ecosystem.

In addition, you will gain insight into how different instruments and components used in water management work together. You will also take part in team-based challenges related to water management and have the opportunity to contribute ideas on how these challenges can be addressed.

The course includes social activities, valuable networking opportunities and several site visits to key industry stakeholders and facilities.

Throughout the programme, you will experience a combination of traditional lectures, interactive classroom sessions, company visits and group work exercises.

The course is taught in an informal learning environment by leading researchers and industry experts.
